Kids health and fitness take center stage on Saturday in the capital city. A children's health festival at the Mississippi Ag. and Forestry Museum offered lots of fun ways to exercise and fight obesity. There were obstacle courses that got feet moving and the blood pumping. From the bouncy house to giant slides youngsters participated in all sorts of fitness challenges. Families also learned about healthy food choices. While doctors were on hand providing free health screening.
"We want the kids to come away with the knowledge of I want a piece of fruit instead of that. I want to work out instead of sit in front of the TV. So we're offering all of the activities here for kids to do to kind of entice and if they're not already working out then jump start that", said CEO United HealthhCare MS, Gerald Kiplinger. The event was sponsored by United Healthcare and the Department of Health.
