The community came together for a fun and festive way to help promote children's health and fitness. St. Andrew's Episcopal School, for a second year in a roll Saturday, held a Rudolph Run The run started with a 5K run/race/walk. And while that was going on, little kiddies where inside the school's gym warming up with exercises like the spider, jumping jacks and the bear crawl. Itt was to prepare them for the 1K family run/race/walk. Each child received a medal for participating. Even the faculty got in the Christmas spirit, wearing elf outfits. Those involve say it's just a fun way to promote the importance of staying healthy.
"It's incredible important because research shows that children do better physically, emotionally, and intellectuality, when they're physically active. Research also shows they do better in the classroom. They're less likely to struggle with obesity, they have stronger bones and less likely to have juvenile diabetes," said Marcy McKay, Parent. McKay says it's also important to instill healthy habits in kids while they're young so they can carry those habits into their adulthood.
